This project is a temporary installation whereby a flamethrower is used, which (on command of the artist) produces a 10-meter high flame.
This performative landmark was shown at Brussels’ annual Museum Night (02 March 2013) where the flame was installed on top of the triumphal arch of the Cinquantenaire (built to celebrate Belgium’s independence and now hosting the Military Museum).
The POWER(flame) produces light signals that can be seen from a great distance. The rhythm of the signal sequences refers to the morse code for “SOS” (save our souls) (… —…) where the “empty space” (=the silence between eruptions) forms the code sequence.
