I stand on a cliff in Saint-Cirq-Lapopie
in front of Maison André Breton,
overviewing the medieval town.
I am dressed in a white sheet on which a red rose has been embroided.
Through a hole in the sheet, I smoke a pipe.
Using a megaphone, I shout:
“The artist is not present,
l’artiste n’est pas présent,
der Künstler ist nicht anwesend”.
I repeat this action for an undetermined period of time.
‘The artist is not present’ was commissioned by RADICALE 2024, a project by Chantal Yzermans e.a. and took place during PARADE on September 8th 2022 in Saint-Cirq-Lapopie (FR).
